No Medical Exam Life Insurance: Can I Get It?

Q: I'm 60 years old. I had life insurance all during my working life, but after my kids were grown and gone, it didn't seem necessary. Now I want to get some again, so that my wife won't be stuck with lots of end-of-life bills to pay when I die. But I don't want to get a physical exam. Can I get a life insurance policy without a medical exam?

A: Yes, you can. Its easy and can take as little as 15 minutes if you do it online. With an instant life insurance policy you can even print the policy out on your printer. The down side to no medical exam life insurance is that premiums will be higher for less coverage. But for a fairly small policy, it can be a good option for its ease, speed and convenience.

But don't try this if your only reason is because you think you can't pass a medical exam. You will be required to answer a few basic health and medical questions. Don't lie about your answers. After your death, there will be an investigation before any death benefits are paid to your wife. If it shows that the medical information you gave them was inaccurate or incomplete, they may refuse to pay.

Most people with no serious health problems have no trouble qualifying for no medical exam life insurance. And for small policies like the one you're thinking of it can be an excellent choice. Your wife will have enough to cover any final expenses from your death.
