People with major and/or chronic health problems often get denied coverage by a health insurance company. Health issues like AIDS, cancer, asthma, major heart disease, diabetes and other chronic conditions can price them right out of the market. That's why most states offer pools for higher risk individuals who can't get health insurance from the traditional carriers. These higher risk plans can be expensive, so you're better offer if you can qualify for a plan offered by an insurance company.

Decline rates can be as high as 60%. But you can significantly increase our chances of not getting denied coverage by a health insurance company if you provide an adequate explanation of your past medical history. For example, be sure to explain clearly when a condition has been resolved and requires no further treatment or medication. Also, include when your situation has been diagnosed and a treatment set.
