Q: I'm a car collector. I have half-a-dozen classic cars, ranging from a '54 GMC Panel Truck to a '68 Dodge Charger, and a 1970 Pontiac Bonneville. All are securely garaged and driven only at shows, and the occasional rally. I want my classic car collections protected by insurance, but obviously, I can only drive one of these cars at a time. Can I get a discount on my collector car insurance by covering the collection as a whole?

A: Probably. Keep in mind that classic car collections insurance rates are already extremely low since the cars are not driven a lot and are usually very well cared for. Classic car owners know how to protect their investments. But there are specialty classic car insurance companies that will charge you one flat liability rate for the collection, not per vehicle, since, as you pointed out, you can only drive one of them at a time. It will pay for you to shop around for this feature.
